Your Longevity Report Card

Today on Full Scope, I want to talk to you about Longetrics comprehensive, longevity focused, health screening, Your Longevity Report Card.

Full disclosure, this service is how I make a living. As such, all of the recommendations and ideas in this podcast contain an inherent conflict of interest.

But, please understand, I have spent over 1-million dollars, tens of thousands of hours, and shouldered great risk to build this. Hopefully this podcast will be useful for:

-              Patients considering Your Longevity Report Card or another comprehensive health screening.

-              Medical providers building health screenings for their own practice

-              Anyone thinking about how to optimize there health and wondering what strategies and diagnostics to think about.

Why Did I Build Your Longevity Report Card?

Because, I believe it is the preventative health service people desperately need. It’s the health screening I would want for my loved ones and myself. It’s a step toward building healthcare that actually delivers health. And delivering health is something I have been working on for almost 20 years now.

Preventative health services are lacking in our current medical system. Essentially healthcare is up-side down. Prevention delivers by far the best return on investment. But yet, only 2.5% of our massive 4.5 trillion dollar a year healthcare budget in the US is used for prevention. If we are to build healthier people, better communities, and take society to the next level, this issue must be addressed.

Question for you?

What is “healthcare” desperately missing?  (in addition to more preventative healthcare services) Ill answer this at the end.

But first: Today we are going to cover:

-              What Your Longevity Report Card is?

-              What things are tested?

-              Why this screening will be so valuable to you, your healthcare team, and your loved ones.

What Your Longevity Report Card is?

Its a comprehensive, longevity-focused, health screening.

Comprehensive – Covers all major body systems as well as mindset, lifestyle, and more. It’s a 40,000 ft (big picture) view of you, your biology, and your health.

Longevity-Focused – The screening focusses on maximizing lifespan, healthspan, performance, and function or utility. It measures not just disease, but also traits associated with longevity and health.  A huge focus of the screening is measuring how old a person is functionally. Their biological age. This is because increasing age is the greatest risk factor for disease and death. We don’t just measure age to measure it though. The screening highlights those things to focus on and do that will most effectively, lower your biological age.

Health Screening – Hundreds of medical problems and diagnoses are screened for in addition to traits associated with health and longevity.

So What actually is it though? What do you actually get?

-              8 hours of clinical testing at Longetrics human performance laboratory collected in 2, four-hour visits.

-              A report over 100 pages long detailing all of the data obtained, diagnoses found, longevity traits, and recommendations from your longevity physician.

-              A one-hour in-person consultation with you longevity physician, reviewing your report and its findings.

-              Follow-up via phone or email for the next year regarding any questions and recommendations found in the report. Longevity Health Consulting

-              The ability for your medical care team to call your longevity physician at Longetrics (me), should they have any questions about the findings in the report.

What Predictions does the report attempt to make?

-              The patients functional or biological age

-              Medical problems that are likely to occur in the future (disease prediction)

-              When a patient might be expected to die from natural causes and what they are most likely to die of. Scary I know. But tremendously valuable.

-              A patients current rate of aging (how fast they are aging) and future predicted rate of aging.

Please note, these predictions are based on the best science and most validated diagnostic medical tests available. But they are just predictions. In order to understand the accuracy of these predictions over time and to become the best in the world at measuring aging, the entire program is run as a clinical research trial. I wont dive into the clinical research component here. But understand, helping future generations of people is a big part of what we are trying to do at Longetrics.

What things are tested as part of Your Longevity Report Card?

This health screening is extremely functional. It focusses on the things I see breaking and causing tremendous pain, suffering, and eventually death as people age. This is something I have extensive personal knowledge of. Why? Because I have treated 1000s of elderly patients in the hospital and have seen first hand the carnage that occurs as people age. I know what systems break with aging, and I can see the signs of demise years and even decades ahead of time.

Testing includes:

-              Strength, balance, and power testing. Think about being asked to lift weights, jump, and perform real life movements.

-              Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing. Think fitness and VO2 max

-              Resting EKG and cardiac stress test. Think risk stratification for heart attacks, the biggest killer on the block.

-              Walking (gait) and movement testing

-              Sensory Testing. Hearing, vision, smell.

-              Body composition. Think muscle, fat, and bone

-              Bone density and spine health. When bones break in later life, it’s a disaster

-              Cognitive testing. How your brain is functioning and working

-              Detailed health and medical history

-              Detailed social, sports, hobbies, and lifestyle history

-              A comprehensive aging inventory including photos, videos, skin, and cosmetic assessment.

-              Detailed laboratory assessment that includes 100s of biomarkers from blood and urine, that most strongly correlate with health and longevity.

-              Heavy metal and inflammation testing

-              Continuous glucose monitor, oral glucose tolerance test, and a heavy focuses on metabolic health. Poor metabolic health is rampant and increasing our risk of really bad things like heart attacks and strokes tremendously.

-              Echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) and vascular ultrasound of the carotid arteries and aorta. The heart and vasculature are a huge focus of the screening.

-              Liver and kidney assessment by ultrasound and laboraties.

-              Retinal imaging (direct visualization of your nervous tissue and blood vessels)

-              And more, the list goes on.

All of the data is captured in the highest dimensional form possible. Instead of just writing down the findings, we actually take pictures and videos, store them, and give them to you with your report. It’s a digital snapshot of you in time. This idea is used across the entire screening. For instance, instead of just listening to your heart and lungs, we also record the sound loop and store it in perpetuity.

All of the tests and diagnostics used have been extensively validated. They are tests that are broadly excepted and understood by the medical community. Newer tests that do not have enough clinical validation have been excluded entirely and intentionally.

Your Longevity Report Card was designed to be useful for your primary care doctor as well as other members of your medical team. Bring them Your Longevity Report Card, and I promise it will super charge their ability to make the right diagnoses and offer correct treatments. Think of this screening as being a rock-solid consultant to the rest of your medical team.

Why this screening will be so valuable to you, your healthcare team, and your loved ones?

-              Prediction and prevention of current and future medical problems through awareness. This is the holy grail of longevity in 2025.

-              Heavy focus on the lifestyle factors and traits most associated with longevity.

-              Awareness: When something is tested a diagnosis can be made. But in my practice, I find it to also be therapeutic. When I asked people, “How fit are you” as a PCP, they would often respond “Im pretty fit” or “Im pretty strong”. Then I would test them and the patients true fitness level would be exposed. Many people who thought they were fit would end up well below average. This awareness, would compel them to act much more than a simple conversation with me ever did.

-              It’s a snapshot of you, your biology, and health in time. With multiple screenings, a person can really build a trajectory of their health. They can truly see how they are changing and aging over time. Many people are not happy with their health trajectory and again feel compelled to improve it following awareness.

-              The testing can serve as a validation, or invalidation tool for treatments and other interventions a patient is utilizing. If you are paying an outside Longevity Clinic thousands of dollars a year for peptides or other treatments, wouldn’t it be nice to know what effects these treatments are having from a party that is not biased to keep selling to you?

-              What gets measured gets managed. Denial is so common. With a big picture view of health in hand, there is no-where to hide. Problems will be exposed. And after people and healthcare providers become aware (through measurement), they can start to really manage things.

-              Health ownership. You have the data and the recommendations. Now you are in control!

If the benefits to you and your healthcare team are not enough. Think about your family and loved ones. After all, both health and disease are contagious. Your good and bad traits, medical problems, habits, and mindset will rub off onto everyone around you, but especially to those you are closest with. So here are some additional benefits for those people you care about most

-              Your loved ones need you to be alive and well for them. This screening is designed to extend the length and quality of your life through awareness. Think more time to support, teach, and build memories with the people you care about most. Think being healthy enough to help your family, actually play with your grandkids, and travel the world in your golden years.

-              Risk factors for you are also risk factors for your family. When something concerning pops up positive for you, it is also relevant to your family.

-              You buy life insurance. But can a cash sum really ever replace you? Downside protection must also involve health optimization. Your Longevity Report Card is your first step toward targeted, high ROI, health optimization.

Is Your Longevity Report Card covered by medical insurance?

No it is not. The test is paid for directly by patients and their loved ones. Though, HSA funds can be utilized.

Why? Insurance does not make significant investments into preventative care. Sick care is the benefit you pay for when purchasing medical insurance.

Ok Finally, What is Missing in healthcare?

Well, lets start with some examples outside of medicine to highlight my hypothesis for what is missing.

Imagine you are a business consultant or investor. A person comes to you without any business documents. So no Profit and Loss, balance sheets, or other financial information. You have 30-minute chat with the business owner. Then you are asked to make recommendations to improve the business or buy a stake in the company. Sound reasonable? No way!

Imagine you are a guidance counselor at a school. You meet with a student, but have no access to their grades, report card, or record. You chat with the student for 30 minutes and then are asked to provide guidance on what the student should do regarding future education and work. Think this will work out well for you or the student?

Well, this is essentially what goes on in every doctors office everyday across the country. You see your doctor, chat for 15-30 minutes. Perhaps a few tests are ordered. Then the doctor is asked to “find the problem”. Surprise…….your doctor often struggles to find the answers. Why. Not enough information.

A business consultant cannot provide value without business data. A good investor would never invest without seeing financials. A counselor cannot tell a student where they might best succeed in the future without a report card.

But yet, we ask doctors to find the root cause of our health problems, with so little information, and so little time.

What is missing……A report card for health.

You are your most important asset! You are an asset to your family and your community! I cannot think of a better place to invest time and money than yourself.

A report card not just consisting of a list of medical problems. But an actual measurement and assessment of both health and disease.

And not just for your doctor. For you as well. Every person in the world should know exactly where they are from a health standpoint. They should know what they need to do that will have the biggest positive impact on their health and longevity (points of maximal leverage). They should understand how their health is changing overtime, so they can take action when things start to slip.

Your Longevity Report Card solves this problem. It provides:

-              An objective snapshot of you, your biology, and health in time

-              A comprehensive report of both health and disease

-              Diagnosis of current medical problems and predictions for future health issues likely to come your way.

-              A health screening that will help you find the root cause of any medical or health problems.

-              A tool that doctors and patients can use to better understand the big picture and make the right diagnosis and treatment recommendations.

-              A way for family members to understand risk factors for their own health.

My dad is 78 years old. He is getting his, Your Longevity Report Card, in the next few weeks. Im SOOO excited, and not just because this is an extraordinary preventative health service that will extend the length and quality of his life.

But, as his child I want to know his data. This is because it is relevant to me, my kids, and all future generations. My dads health risks are also my own.

Additionally, how cool will it be to get an objective snapshot of his health metrics this late in life. It will serve as a benchmark for the rest of the family to shoot for, as he is already 2 years older than the average man in the United States lives. I wish I had this for my deceased grandparents. How cool would that be to look back on. A lot more interesting than their existing “medical record”, I can tell you that. Ever review a modern medical record…….. not fun or interesting
